  • XPLOR’s FLEX+ CIGS solar panels are engineered to deliver superior quality and performance, setting them apart from the competition. Unlike a traditional CIGS manufacturing process, our cell-to-cell technology ensures precision and reliability. We stamp and test each solar cell individually and utilize a process called sputtering instead of using inconsistent chemical sprays. Only the top-performing “A” grade cells make the cut, with each cell assigned a unique QR code to track its production and testing. This attention to detail eliminates variations and guarantees consistent performance.

    Our Flex+ solar panels go even further, with bypass diodes on every cell to prevent power loss from partial shading. All of our panels feature a rugged 3M topsheet, offering exceptional durability even in extreme conditions. While our advanced manufacturing process increases costs, it results in the highest-quality CIGS panels available—built to thrive in the toughest environments and deliver long-lasting value.

    Made with CIGS (Copper-Indium-Gallium-Selenide) cells, FLEX+ is built for rugged durability and extreme conditions, making it ideal for off-grid adventurers, overlanders, and those facing tough outdoor environments.

    • Low-Light Performance: CIGS cells perform exceptionally well in low-light situations, such as overcast weather or shaded areas.

      Walkable: Designed to be walkable, these panels are perfect for overlanding rigs where additional gear might be stacked on top of the vehicle, and durability is critical.

      Bypass Diodes: Each cell has bypass diodes, which prevent power loss when parts of the panel are shaded or obstructed.

      Use Case: It’s perfect for those who need reliable power in unpredictable conditions or environments where the panels may not always receive full, direct sunlight.

    Made with A-grade silicon cells, FLEX-SI modules provide more power with a smaller footprint.

  • You can clean the modules with a soft cloth and a mild soap. Do not use abrasive cleaners, and ensure any debris is removed from the modules before cleaning.

  • The front sheet of the module is a well-tested 3M UBF 512 material. One of its primary purposes is to protect the module components from UV to prevent any damage it may cause. As long as the user does not remove the laminate, there will be no harm from UV.

  • The best way to apply XPLOR modules is to use the appropriate 3M VHB tape for the surface. The back sheet is a plastic polymer, and 3M provides a wide range of adhesive tapes depending on the type of surface. i.e., metal, fiberglass, plastic, etc..

  • XPLOR modules come with MC4 terminals, which are a standard in the PV industry. To wire it to your charge controller, you will need to measure the proper length of cables with cables with an MC4 male/female on one side and bare wire on the other. The rest of the system (charge controller to battery, battery to inverter) will depend mainly on the size of the system.

  • The first thing to do is determine all of the electrical loads you will use in your vehicle (a rough estimate in kWh). From there, you can figure out how much battery storage you will need depending on how long you want your system to run without adequate sunlight. Finally, you will be able to determine the proper size of your modules, based on how much daily kWh in PV generation you will need to maintain your batteries while running all of your electrical loads.

  • XPLOR FLEX+ modules can be walked on -- as long as there is no debris on the module or the shoes. We do not suggest placing these modules in a heavily trafficked area as it will increase the chance of damage to the module.

    We do not recommend walking on FLEX-Si and BLOX modules.

  • Our modules absolutely can be recycled at their end of life.

    Our FLEX+ modules produce 1/10 the carbon emissions in the production and manufacturing process, as compared to standard module manufacturing, and we’re expanding our capabilities of recycling the stainless steel and metal materials for each cell.

  • Yes! Solar panels can be installed on most vehicles, including RVs, campervans, overlanding rigs, boats, and even Skoolies. Flexible panels like the XPLOR Flex+ or Flex-Si series are designed to fit irregular surfaces, making installation easier on curved roofs or limited spaces.

  • Yes, solar panels can still generate electricity on cloudy days, though they produce significantly less energy compared to sunny days. CIGS panels are especially efficient in low-light conditions, making them a great option for areas with variable weather.

  • To store energy, you’ll need a battery system, such as XPLOR's BX-100 battery or a larger storage solution, depending on your energy needs. The stored power can be used when there’s no sunlight or to run devices overnight. Batteries like the BX-100 are portable and perfect for off-grid adventures.

  • Yes, with the right system design! By combining solar panels, an inverter, and a battery storage solution, you can power appliances, lighting, and even air conditioning in your RV off grid. For example, modular systems like the BLOX series can be customized to scale based on your energy demands.

  • Solar panels are low-maintenance. You’ll need to keep them clean from debris, dust, or snow that can block sunlight. Occasionally check the connections to ensure everything is secure.

  • Mixing different types of panels, like CIGS and silicon, in the same system is generally not recommended. Each panel type has different electrical properties, which can lead to inefficiencies or complications. Sticking with one type is best, though systems can often be expanded with the same panel models for scalability.

  • An inverter converts the DC (direct current) electricity generated by solar panels into AC (alternating current), which is the type of electricity used by most appliances. If you want to run standard electronics, an inverter is essential. Many all-in-one systems include integrated inverters. XPLOR’s BX 100 & 200 power systems don’t include an inverter since it’s a DC-to-DC power source.

  • Yes, solar panels are an excellent eco-friendly solution. They reduce reliance on fossil fuels and lower your carbon footprint by generating clean, renewable energy. Over their lifespan, solar panels offset the energy used in their manufacturing and contribute to sustainable living.

  • Yes, many solar systems, especially those designed for vehicles like the BLOX series, are modular and easy to remove or transfer. This allows you to upgrade or move the panels to a new vehicle or structure as needed without permanent modifications.
